The Daughterinlaw eBook D H Lawrence
Here is one of the best modern examples of a play that is absolutely meant to be watched not read. The specific dialect and thick accents make for an extremely challenging perusal, leaving one’s brain feeling gnawed on and exhausted. The play itself sports a reasonable plot, however the unrelenting intensity (especially after the first act) feels somewhat contrived, even fraudulent at points, and leaves one wanting something a bit more genuine.
After reading The Daughter in Law, I found myself in a grumpy mood with a knot in my mind's tongue. But it’s not all bad - there are some good moments - so I suggest giving it a try, if just for the mental workout.

The Daughterinlaw eBook D H Lawrence Reviews
Didn't like the format
found it difficult to read/understand
in the dialect that it was written.
I read the book a few months ago and don't remember one thing about it. It certainly didn't make a good enough impression on me to recommend to anyone else.
arrived as expectation in good condition
Didn't get to first base with this play
Great classic book, I am loving that has these for free and am trying to collect them all.
This is simply a brilliant play about how a pair of newlyweds rub the rough edges off of each other. Consistent in all of the chacters and deeply penetrating - truly a classic - outstanding. The vernacular in which the play is written is difficult at first, but serves to insert the reader into the very minds of the characters. What an inventive way of allowing the reader to get into the swim of the drama!
